An Orkney Treat, the gin hamper with hand made biscuits, fudge an original hand made Orkney jug and a bottle of Rhubarb Old Tom gin
The Orkney Gin Company is a family run business owned by Orcadians Gary and Andrea Watt, run from their island home of Burray in the Orkney Islands. Burray is situated by Scapa Flow and is reached by the famous Churchill Barriers. The family has an extensive sea background, with Gary still himself and many family members having history in the fishing industry and the Merchant Navy.
The inspiration for the gin comes from the botanicals found growing in the wild in the Orkney environment. The rhubarb in this bottle of Rhubarb Old Tom can be found growing wild in Orkney and the history of this plant goes back to the islands Norse roots, and the handpicked rose petals add to the unique taste. The stone bottles and company logo adds to the charm of the product. The logo depicts a Selkie woman, a selkie being the traditional name for a seal and well known locally in folklore to be a unique race of their own, the Selkie People.
