For 22 years I have lived and worked in the beautiful fishing village of Port Isaac in Cornwall. However, my family have always had connections with the sea. I grew up in Hull when it was a major fishing port and my ancestors were fishermen in Norfolk. My great, great grandmother was left a widow with 11 children when her husband, a fisherman, was lost at sea.
My husband and myself have worked as potters all our working lives. But in more recent years, I have taken up the paint brush to pursue my own painting journey. I am surrounded by a very inspiring coastline with ever-changing climate and seasons, which presents an amazing challenge. The older I get, the more I want to discover the secrets of capturing light and colour. A journey which now includes painting trips and studying in Italy and Spain.
